This policy ("Backyard Golf," "we," "us") explains what information we collect when you visit playbackyardgolf.com or use the Backyard Golf mobile app, and what we do with it. We try to keep this short and honest.
What we collect
From the marketing site: the name and email you submit to the waitlist form. Form submissions are handled by Formspree, which transmits the data to us.
From the mobile app: account information you provide (email, password, optional profile fields like name, handicap, and avatar); shot data and swing telemetry captured during practice; short swing video clips you record during Swing Analysis or Baseline assessments; in-app purchase status relayed from RevenueCat; device push-notification tokens; basic crash and performance diagnostics via Sentry; and product analytics via PostHog.
From your launch monitor: shot measurements emitted by the Garmin Approach® R10 (carry, total, spin, club path, etc.) when paired and in use. We do not access your Garmin account or anything stored on Garmin servers.
How we use it
To operate the product: render your shots, save your sessions, sync data across your devices, deliver coach analysis when requested, send you push notifications about your party or game sessions, and verify your subscription status.
To improve the product: aggregate and pseudonymized analytics that help us understand which features get used and where the app is slow or crashes.
To contact you: respond to support requests, send important account notices, and (if you joined the waitlist) tell you when we open access.
Who we share it with
We work with third-party service providers to run the product. Each one sees only the data it needs to do its job. We disclose them by category below; we'll share specific provider names on request — just email us.

- Cloud infrastructure, content delivery, and media storage
- Real-time communication for live game sessions
- Push notification delivery
- Crash and error reporting
- Product analytics
- Waitlist form delivery
- Subscription receipt verification (RevenueCat)
- App distribution and billing (Apple App Store, Google Play)
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We will disclose information when legally required (court order, subpoena) or when necessary to protect the safety of users or the integrity of the service.
How long we keep it
Account and shot data: kept while your account is active. Swing videos: kept for the lifetime of your account unless you delete them. Crash and analytics events: retained per the provider's default (typically 30–90 days).
You can delete your account in-app at any time from Profile → Delete Account. Deletion removes your auth record, profile, shot history, and uploaded swing videos.
Your choices
Email us at contact@playbackyardgolf.com to access, correct, or delete your data, or to ask us anything about how the product handles information. If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA — email us and we'll honor them.
Children
Backyard Golf is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and, when reasonable, notify active users in-app or by email.
